By Wilson Joseph
Nasstar, which delivers desktop computing over the internet, has won a three-year contract to provide its Hosted Desktop service to CGMS, a planning consultancy in London.
Under the terms of the contract Nasstar's Hosted Desktop internet service will be rolled out to 125 staff across the UK offices with the flexibility for further users to be added during the contract term. Hosted Desktop enables each user to access all their applications and data through a web browser providing an alternative to traditional on-premise computing.
The actual value of the contract will depend on exact usage based on an agreed per user per month fee.
Charles Black, CEO of Nasstar, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed by CGMS to deliver our innovative Hosted Desktop service. This contract really underlines the benefits and scalability of our approach which transforms IT from a locally installed boxed product to an internet cloud computing model."
Founded in 1998, Nasstar offers service that enables subscribers to compute in the internet cloud, with access to their desktop, files, applications and email over the internet rather than on-premise. Cloud computing is a scalable service that provides anywhere access to computing and an alternative to locally installed on-premise computing.
John Stockdale, finance director at CGMS, said: "We're pleased to be adopting Nasstar's service, its a different approach from the way we have bought IT in the past, delivers great benefits and saves us money. Nasstar's model of internet delivery provides us with the flexibility we need with staff working across the UK."
