The platform now supports 42 languages in 46 countries
Google has added 13 new languages to its Android voice search platform which already supports 29 languages.
The new languages added to the Google voice search app include Basque, Bulgarian, Catalan, European Portuguese, Finnish, Galician, Hungarian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, and Swedish.
According to Google, by adding the new languages another 100 million people across the world will be able to use the voice search services in their native language.
The addition of the 13 new languages will see Google's voice search now support 42 languages in 46 countries.
Google product manager Bertrand Damiba said that with Voice Search, people can speak into their phone to get search results quickly and easily.
"While languages like Romanian follow predictable pronunciation rules, others, like Swedish, required that we recruit native speakers to provide us with the pronunciations for thousands of words," Damiba said.
"Our scientists then built a machine learning system based on that data to predict how all other Swedish words would be pronounced."
Android phones running version 2.2 or later have Voice Search built in and users with an earlier version of Android can install the app from Google Play.
